The "city of thousands of flowers" Da Lat, Vietnam has been named among the world’s ten best destinations to see flowers by global travellers, according to data from the online travel service platform Booking.com.

Booking.com wrote: "Often known as the city of thousands of flowers, Da Lat is home to various flower parks, farms and festivals, each decorating the city with colourful blooms and rich green landscapes".

The travel website also suggests visitors spend their days exploring the Da Lat Flower Gardens and wandering around the grounds, taking in some of the fragrant lilies, chrysanthemums, and diverse orchids of which the city is famous for.

The lavender flower gardens by Tuyen Lam Lake

The lavender flower gardens by Tuyen Lam Lake, sunflower fields at Da Lat Milk Farm, Trai Mat hydrangea flower fields and cherry blossom roads are other lovely spots that travellers should not miss, the agency added.

Situated on a plateau around 1,500 meters above sea level, Da Lat enjoys year-round cool weather that stands in contrast to Vietnam's tropical climate.

Da Lat is one of Vietnam’s biggest flower-growing regions, producing around three billion flowers every year, ten per cent of which are exported to foreign markets including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and mainland China.

Amsterdam in the Netherlands

According to Booking.com, Amsterdam in the Netherlands represents one of the best cities for flowers. This is hardly surprising as travellers can find multiple flower stalls filled with colourful tulips and bulbs across the Dutch city.

Elsewhere, Funchal in Portugal is among the world’s top flower destinations as it is renowned for both its variety of gardens and wine cellars.

Most notably, the Maderia Botanical Garden is worth visiting all year round, particularly as it is home to over 2,000 varieties of plants and has an area dedicated to research and conservation, in addition to the Museum of Natural History for those wanting more scientific information on plants.

Other cities on the list include Gramado (Brazil), Victoria (Canada), Toowoomba (Australia) and Istanbul (Turkey).
