VOV.VN - Singapore-based news website Channel NewsAsia has picked 10 cooling getaways in Asia to escape the intense heat, with three Vietnamese destinations - Sa Pa in Lao Cai province, Da Lat in Lam Dong province, and Ba Na Hills in Da Nang – featured on the list.
Sa Pa is accessible via an eight-hour sleeper train ride from Hanoi that will leave travelers refreshed upon arrival for more reasons than one. With cool temperatures all year round, Sa Pa offers respite even during the "hottest" months between June and August, according to Channel NewsAsia.
The destination's allure extends beyond its climate, boasting villages and homestays teeming with culture as well as rice terraces and waterfalls littered along guided treks and motorbike tours.
The website suggests that visitors should try to conquer Southeast Asia’s lofty peak of Fansipan on a hike, or alternatively hop onboard a fancy funicular ride for the smug satisfaction of basking in the panoramic views without breaking a sweat. Viewing the sunrise from the Glass Bottom Bridge, perched 2,200m above sea level is also an unforgettable experience.
Ba Na Hills in Da Nang is the next destination on the travelers’ list to escape the intense heat. It is located just 35 kilometres from Da Nang's city centre in the central region and can be easily accessed by bus, private hire, or GrabCar.
The resort area mostly owes its fame to the iconic Golden Hand Bridge, suspended in the clouds by two colossal stone hands, which has been an instant social media sensation since its launch in 2018, it reported.
The third position goes to Da Lat, dubbed the “Paris of Vietnam”. Nestled in the lush Central Highlands region, Da Lat is an eight-hour bus ride, or a swift domestic flight away from Ho Chi Minh City.
Here, European allure can be found in the local picturesque railway stations, churches, and accommodations that are themselves attractions, the article wrote.
Thrill-seekers will not be disappointed in Da Lat, as waterfall canyoning, high rope courses, and mountain bike trails await in its backyard, it added.
Others to feature in the list include Singapore's nearby destinations in Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan (China) where temperatures dip below 30 degrees Celsius even in their warmest months.
They include Cameron Highlands, Genting Highlands, and Kundasang town in Malaysia; Khao Kho, Khao Yai, and Chiang Rai in Thailand; and Alishan in Taiwan (China).
