Vietnam has welcomed 8.9 million foreign arrivals over the past nine months, beating the tourism industry’s set target of receiving 8 million, reported the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).

On September 27, at the ceremony to mark this year’s World Tourism Day themed “Green tourism and investment” in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia, ministers and tourism agency leaders of 125 countries and territories around the world have committed to sustainable tourism development, and supporting the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it will propose the Government revise the target of international tourists to 12.5-13 million from only 8 million this year, a 56% increase from the plan set at the beginning of the year.
