From 2nd - 5th February 2023, Vietnam Tourism Delegation will attend the ASEAN Tourism Forum - ATF 2023 and the Travel Expo TRAVEX in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
This year, the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2023) will take place under the theme "ASEAN: A Journey to Wonderful Destinations". This is the largest annual event held alternately among ASEAN members within the framework of ASEAN tourism cooperation.
Attending the delegation will be leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, and a number of units under the MOCST, localities and tourism businesses.
As per plan, there are many significant activities take place at the ATF 2023, such as: The 22nd Meeting of ASEAN+3 Tourism Ministers; The 9th Meeting of ASEAN-India Tourism Ministers; The 2nd Meeting of ASEAN-Russia Tourism Ministers; The 57th Meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organisations; The 42nd Meeting of ASEAN+3 National Tourism Organisations; The 29th Meeting of ASEAN-India National Tourism Organisations; The 13th Meeting of ASEAN-Russia Tourism Consultation; The ASEAN Tourism Award Ceremony; The Press conference of ASEAN Tourism Ministers and other side activities.
Thereby, the Vietnamese delegation will organise a press conference to inform about the development, mechanisms, policies, products and services for tourism in Vietnam post Covid-19; market orientation, products suitable for the new situation. Raising awareness about the image, navigation and message of Vietnam tourism via the logo and title “Vietnam - Timeless Charm” and media campaign “Live fully in Vietnam”.
The International Travel Expo TRAVEX is one of the significant activities to be happening within the ATF 2023 framework, promising to attract the attention of international partners, businesses and tourists. The expo will be the venue for exciting activities of the tourism industry such as exhibitions, product endorsement, meetings between buyers and sellers, seminars, etc.
Vietnam attends TRAVEX with the Vietnam Tourism booth, with an area of 54m2 conveying the message inviting visitors to Vietnam to explore, relax and play. Images appearing at the booth will appear consistently throughout all events of Vietnam tourism at the expo. In particular, the highlight at the booth will be promotion activities about the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 - Binh Thuan.
This is an occasion for the tourism sector to promote Vietnam as an attractive, safe and hospitable destination. Vietnam has fully opened and welcomed visitors to be back post the pandemic; supporting tourism businesses to reconnect with partners and markets, contributing to promoting tourism recovery.
ASEAN is one of the most dynamic tourism development regions in the Asia and Pacific region. Most of the ASEAN member countries focus on developing tourism, considering tourism as an important economic sector in the national economy.
Pre-pandemic period, in 2019, according to the ASEAN Secretariat, international visitors to the ASEAN region reached about 143.5 million arrivals, accounting for 9.6% of total international visitors worldwide; the growth rate reached 6.1%, higher than the general growth rate of the world (4%).
Regarding Vietnam tourism, ASEAN is one of the key markets and partners. In 2019, visitors from ASEAN region to Vietnam reached 2.1 million arrivals, accounting for about 11.6% of total international visitors to the country. Multilateral cooperation within the ASEAN framework plays an important role in Vietnam's international cooperation in tourism.
