Having studied in Vietnam and having long researched the country’s ties with Laos, Dr. Sainasin said that General Secretary Trong is a profound, gentle, upright and hard-working person with a high sense of responsibility for national development interests.
He represented one of the very few people who achieved these qualities, becoming an exemplary leader for the people, worthy of being an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh.
According to the Dr. Sainasin, the results that General Secretary Trong had directed over recent years on national issues such as international co-operation, socio-economic development after the COVID-19 pandemic, anti-corruption and anti-negativity, as well as promoting investment ties between Laos and Vietnam, is a clear testament to the excellent leadership of General Secretary Trong.
He said, "I have always followed the socio-economic development of Vietnam over the past time, especially during the difficult period due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This problem has caused many countries around the world, including Vietnam and Laos, to face difficulties, challenges and economic lag.”
However, under the clear-sighted leadership and direction of General Secretary Trong, both the Party and Government, along with the Vietnamese people, united to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and to continue to bring the national economy to development again after this period.
Dr. Sainasin said that Vietnamese success is thanks to the great contributions made by General Secretary Trong, especially in directing and focusing on handling negative social issues and increasing international investment attraction.
“Vietnam not only promotes economic cooperation with developed economies, but also carries out economic diplomacy with all countries in the region and the world, for the purpose of connecting, exchanging towards common development, for the benefit of Vietnam, the region and the world,” he continued.
Regarding anti-corruption and anti-negativity efforts Dr. Sainasin said that Vietnam is one of the countries that seriously implemented these policies under the leadership of General Secretary Trong, with soft but drastic measures taken. This can be considered a good policy that is trusted by the people.
In terms of international diplomatic relations, the Vietnamese Party chief had directed the deployment and implementation of the bamboo diplomatic policy.
Dr. Sainasin stated, "General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has inherited and promoted well the foreign policy of President Ho Chi Minh, a form of diplomacy based on the strengths of the Party, the Government and the people which is the three major pillars in diplomacy to complement each other. Especially in international cooperation, diplomacy must follow the principles of democratic rights and territorial integrity, and aim at mutually beneficial cooperation without losing each other's interests.”
He added that, “Bamboo diplomacy is characterised by being flexible and sturdy, but has the ability to rotate flexibly. This is a characteristic of a diplomacy that is strong but not rigid, flexible but not weak under the leadership and direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during the past time.”
Referring to the development of great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive linkages between the nation and Laos, Dr. Sainasin affirmed that this is a unique solidarity relationship that exists in the world.
The foundations for solidarity between the two countries were laid and diligently nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kayson Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong.
In the context of a rapidly changing world, with many difficulties and challenges, hostile forces always plot to divide the relationship between the two countries. But under the leadership of General Secretary Trong, the special solidarity between both sides continued to be increasingly strengthened.
“General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, had directed us to always propagate to the young generation to clearly understand the importance of this special relationship, a vital relationship that otherwise would rely on each other and help each other. We will not be able to survive, because Vietnam and Laos are not just neighboring countries, but brothers in one family, so we must preserve the relationship of great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam cooperation forever,” he added.
